Same problem using fluxbox and chromium-browser on 12.04.
If a device name isn't showing up in /dev/ (as sdb or sdc or something like that), then the problem is beyond the file system. You should have something show up in /dev/ right after plugging it in. ...
* Those individuals with low/no revenues who otherwise believe Ubuntu is priceless won't be able to "pay what they think it is worth", unfortunately
* This must only be for people who actually...
Are you trying to mount it from the terminal? Paste the code. It should be something like:
sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/<device> /<path>
Thanks to mduck and andrew.46 , your information helped me solve the problem as well.
And nonedrinkthewater for posting \o/
The problem could be the BIOS. It could have been specifically designed to work well with Windows and not well with Linux.
Since the BIOS isn't open source, there really isn't a way to prove it...
If the native CNC Linux doesn't work you could try DOSBox to run the cnc's DOS program on a version of Ubuntu, just install fluxbox or something on it so it's lightweight.
The better question probably is "How do you ask someone out without getting rejected?"
The answer is "You probably can't".
The likelihood of rejection occurring at some point in your life is...
Are you sure the kernel module is loaded for your soundchip?
This command should list a module under your soundchip.
sudo lshw
Also investigate driver modules with
lsmod
Hey, did you ever find out anything on this? I have a u305 too, and wanted to sync up with you, maybe we can give each other info. Be well.
I checked with some folks on the IRC channel #ubuntu-beginners. If you don't get a response right away on the forum, you can head over to irc (either using an irc client like xchat/pidgin or by...
I'm not sure that i'll be able to help you. I believe the driver is compiled into the kernel (as i don't have any drivers listed in
lsmod for my own optical drive or even the ide controllers).
...
What channel is the optical drive on? ide1 or ide0? Looks like your seagate hdd is on ide0, but it doesn't detect any other sata device.
If it were me, at this point i'd be checking connectors...
My optical drive is on /dev/sr0 , so i thought to check /dev/sr* for it, just in case it was there, but not getting mounted.
What about
sudo lshw ?
EDIT: is it an ATA device?
Have you tried running
top to see what is eating cpu cycles?
Have you tried
ls /dev/sr* ?
Have you tried going into another tty (ctrl-alt-f1) and killing gnome-power-manager instead of rebooting? It isn't a fix, but i believe it's a step in the right direction.
Have you considered looking for more help on IRC (http://webchat.freenode.net)?

transmission is awesome! i seed the x64 desktop and server isos constantly (along with a ton of other stuff) and it works quite well. there's even a cli version in the repos if you want to run it...
i also didn't read this forum in detail, so apologies if this was already said, and I'm reluctant to say it, but I would be surprised if a lot of the forum material is NOT duplicated on IRC which is...
you can try "alsamixer" in a terminal. i need to have frontmic to 50% in order for someone to hear me. unfortunately, pushing it above this causes distortion.
i'm in #ubuntu-beginners on irc,...

i'm not sure what your question really is. but someone in #ubuntu-beginners did consider VNC might be a solution to your problem.

i think you just have to follow the OPs instructions, perhaps this alone will do it.
sudo mkfs.vfat -F 32 /dev/sdx2
i think the x in sdx2 may vary from system to system.
but, if it...
